Governance Transformation
Just as Y‑12 is transforming the footprint and facilities of the site, Y‑12 also is transforming how its federal employees and contractor employees work together and the oversight requirements that govern this working relationship. This change, called Governance Transformation, will increase productivity and efficiency for the site.
Y‑12 also will employ lessons learned, methodologies and best practices from governance transformation activities at the Savannah River Site, Kansas City Plant, Sandia National Lab and the Nevada National Security Site. Although these sites have different missions, Y‑12 will employ those changes that have proven effective at other sites and are appropriate in the Y‑12 environment. When feasible, commercial standards will be adopted for non-nuclear operations and processes.
As Governance Transformation takes place, one thing doesn’t change — Y‑12 will maintain safety and security for the site, its workers, the public and the environment. In addition, although oversight processes will change, Governance Transformation does not eliminate federal oversight at Y‑12.
