Veterans' Business Conference
The East Tennessee Veterans' Business Conference — held Tuesday, August 5, 2008, in the New Hope Center at the Y-12 National Security Complex — was a partnering initiative among Y‑12, The University of Tennessee Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC), and a host of East Tennessee agencies
The overall purpose of the Veterans' Business Conference was to increase business opportunities for service-disabled veteran and veteran-owned small businesses. The conference also provided opportunities for government prime contractors to develop a database of qualified service-disabled veteran and veteran-owned small businesses.
Conference sessions provided important information on the basics of government contracting, how to get on the General Services Administration (GSA) schedule, and financing options for small businesses (Patriot Loan Program for Veterans). Other sessions described franchise options for small businesses, technology transfer and emerging business opportunities, and business planning for small businesses.
