Corporate Giving
B&W Y‑12 has established a strong reputation as a corporate citizen through both our Corporate Contributions Program and the involvement of employees in significant civic, health and human services, educational, and cultural programs.
Program Objectives
- In planning the annual budget for corporate contributions, B&W Y‑12 gives priority consideration to legacy-type grants that provide tangible, lasting investments in education and the community.
- Organizations that receive funds from an umbrella agency, such as the Arts Council of Oak Ridge, should generally receive B&W Y‑12 funding through grant requests to the coordinating agency.
- Because the company and its employees provide significant support to the United Way each year, requests from United Way-affiliated agencies are considered on a case-by-case basis and may not be eligible for additional support from B&W Y‑12.
- The company is a strong supporter of diversity and is committed to funding eligible minority organizations and organizations involving youth, the elderly and individuals with disabilities.
- B&W Y‑12 provides significant funding for college scholarship programs. Funds for scholarships are not generally made to organizations or individuals.
Policy Guidelines
- To be considered for a grant, an organization must be classified by the Internal Revenue Service as a tax-exempt public charity. Public entities such as cities or public school districts have tax-exempt status because they operate solely for public purposes.
- Priority is given to organizations and projects located in the local region where our employees live and work.
- Schools, hospitals and other organizations that are supported or operated by religious organizations may be considered for funding if their services are offered to the general public.
- Requests should suggest a plan for publicizing the grant and giving visibility to the company.

The following types of organizations or activities are excluded from support by the B&W Y‑12 Corporate Contributions Program:
- Organizations that discriminate by race, creed, gender, age, disability or national origin
