Our Expertise

As one of the National Nuclear Security Administration’s original nuclear weapons production facilities, Y‑12 National Security Complex has more than 60 years of experience in the production, handling, packaging, transportation and accountability of nuclear materials. In conducting this production mission, Y‑12 personnel have developed expertise in the operation of personal dosimetry, detection and decontamination equipment. Our trainers have many years of operational experience at Y‑12 as well as on numerous international missions.

Staff at the Nuclear and Radiological Field Training Center now offers training for specialized military and emergency management units that includes:

  • Hands-on training in a secure environment
  • 20,000 square feet of offices, high bays, and laboratories
