The 2008 Readiness Workshop hosted by Y‑12.
The 2008 Readiness Workshop, held August 19–20, focused on understanding and clarifying key pending changes to improve the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) order on startup/restart of nuclear facilities. B&W Y‑12 hosted the August workshop, which was attended by more than 80 personnel from DOE, site offices and contractors responsible for operations of the Nuclear Weapons Complex. Ted Sherry, Y‑12 Site Office manager, stressed the importance of the readiness process. “We are poised to make changes to the startup/restart order, and we want to do that in the right direction.” The minutes (MS Word) are provided for attendees’ use.
The 2007 Readiness Process Workshop, the seventh annual Y‑12-sponsored readiness workshop, held August 21–22, focused on evaluating areas of the U.S. Department of Energy start-up and restart order, sharing lessons learned and successful readiness process tools from around the Nuclear Security Enterprise.
The 2006 Readiness Workshop focused on the opportunities to improve the Readiness preparation process leading to safer operations and a reduction in resources required to support the readiness preparations and reviews.
The 2002–2005 workshops facilitated sharing of lessons learned and initiatives aimed at improving the effectiveness of readiness preparations.
Meeting minutes for previous years’ workshops are available to Readiness Workshop participants upon request from the Readiness Workshop.
