Officials at the Y-12 National Security Complex have reopened the plant to employees following the early morning closure of Y-12 because of a law enforcement situation.
At about 5:52 a.m. this morning, an individual drove through the east portal gate of Y-12 and crashed his vehicle near a parking lot area. Y-12 Security police officers responded and subsequently apprehended the individual who was then arrested by the Oak Ridge Police Department.
Employees on-site during the closure were placed in curfew and not allowed to leave plant buildings. The on-site curfew has been lifted.
There was no risk to nuclear operations as a result of the incident at Y-12.
