Y‑12 names chief scientist

John Leckey was recently appointed chief scientist for Y‑12.

Among other roles, Leckey has served as lead compatibility scientist on all Y‑12 weapons components built since 1983.

As chief scientist, Leckey said, he will help guide Technology Development projects by ensuring that objectives are focused and customers are identified appropriately.

A specific challenge Leckey expects he will address is "how we can implement technology in our operations that helps us produce components more efficiently."
