The Y‑12 Technology Applications Center is a dedicated resource that performs only testing and evaluation programs. Y‑12 TAC neither manufactures nor markets security technologies. Its independent and unbiased position enables the Center to complete each testing project to the highest standards of professional conduct and ethics.
Our independent testing and evaluation process ensures the following:
- Greater level of competence by concentrating on testing and evaluation as a discipline
- Adherence to operational testing and evaluation standards and protocols
- Greater consistency in process and results
- Complete focus on the design and execution of testing activities

Y‑12 TAC also serves as a resource to the National Nuclear Security Administration by providing the Nuclear Security Enterprise with independent operational performance data that can be used by all NSE sites and laboratories.
