NPO donates 50,177 pounds of food for Feds Feed Families campaign
Employees of the National Nuclear Security Administration Production Office have donated 50,177 pounds of food as part of the annual U.S. Department of Energy’s Feds Feed Families campaign. The amount of food donated is almost double the amount donated in the 2015 campaign and continues NPO’s tradition as a leader in this campaign among NNSA offices across the Enterprise.
“Once again, NPO employees stepped up to the challenge and made significant donations to help this worthy cause. I am very proud of the result of this campaign and what this will mean for those in need in our communities,” said Geoff Beausoleil, NPO Manager.
The NPO FFF donations are supporting the efforts of the High Plains Food Bank, Amarillo, Texas, and the Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee. FFF Campaign leaders included Lisa Vickers for the NPO office at the Pantex Plant and Betty Diden for the NPO office at the Y-12 National Security Complex.
The FFF campaign is a voluntary effort undertaken by federal employees across the country to provide non-perishable food items to local food banks. Since the start of this effort in 2009, Federal employees have donated and collected millions of pounds of food to support families across America. Every month, local food banks help thousands of people, including elderly, handicapped individuals and children.
